Takashi Murakami. Murakami is one of japans most renown contemporary artists, working within all aspects of art, from painting to commercial/anime. The innovative Murakami style is translated into his art movement '
Superflat', whereby he incorporated popular culture into 'flattened forms' of japanese art in 30ft sculptures.
The superflat style incorporates a graphic style derived from anime/manga, as well as a range huge range of colour. The superflat style not only addresses japanese lifestyles & culture, but also looks into consumerism with popular culture.
