Stour Valley Arts, Super Kingdom, 2008

Super Kingdom is a development of new animal habitats within King's Wood. These luxury homes are modelled on the imperious palaces of Stalin, Ceauscescu and Mussolini and offer nesting and over-winter sites to native and migrant species.

London Field Works (Bruce Gilchrist & Jo Joelson) newly commissioned work draws upon the artists' research into the hibernation patterns of animals within King's Wood. It also reflects on issues of mass population movement such as that planned for nearby Ashford. Super Kingdom will comprise a sculptural installation within the forest and a digital moving image work, and is the first time Store Valley Arts commissioned artists have focused their research on the animals of the forest.
