Self-taught artist Aurel Schmidt’s publication, Maneater features a wealth of intricate and highly detailed illustrations which span some unconventional themes and topics. From carefully burnt paper pieces to interpretations of nature and urban landscapes, her work often requires a great deal of attention to truly view all of the work’s details and highlights.

Blank Studios latest creation is the 'Xeros residence'. Covering the outside of the house is a rusted steel scrim, which while practical, also creates an idustrial look for the house. The house merges sophistication and elegance with a raw and undefined feel.

Grace Jones : Hurricane, Album Art Work

The artwork for Grace Jones' latest album, Hurricane, designed and art directed by Tom Hingston Studio Studio, knowingly works the conceit of the popstar as visual commodity: in this case featuring life-size versions of Jones made out of chocolate.



“The original idea was to produce a set of images of Grace being mass-produced but with her being in control of the actual process,” says Hingston. “The crux of the idea is that she has ownership of her identity. We looked at a range of manufacturing processes, from car makers to pottery factories, but there was something about her being made of chocolate that had [the right] connotations.”




















Overall i feel its a good idea, but badly executed which is a shame, well not BADLY, but I don’t think it sums up the glamor and eccentricity of Grace Jones.

Butterfly Installation at Dior Homme Paris

Andrea Mastrovito Commissioned by Dior Homme artistic director Kris Van Assche, the Dior Homme store in Paris was given a fresh new installation by Italian artist Andrea Mastrovito. Inspired by the 2008 fall/winter collection, the artwork features 9,000 fantasy like butterfly silhouettes making their way through the boutiques white walls and ceiling.

London Teenage Portfolio

Designer Hedi Slimane, best known for his past role as creative designer of Dior Homme, recently hit the streets of London in search of teenagers that best represented this generation of London youth. Slimane along with Nicola Formichetti set off on a street casting effort to find people from all walks of life in the most social of places. Over a period of four days they completed their project resulting in a brilliant improvisational effort featuring designs through the mind of Hedi Slimane.

Vinti Andrews for Nike

A graduate OF ONE OF THE MOST OVERRATED art university's I've ever come across Central Saint Martins school of art and design, designer Vinti Andrews has become well-known for her re constructionist techniques.
So it seemed only right she took apart a Nike wind runner and put back together with a bunch of rubbish.
The top hood half is marked by some bold 3M materials. Also seen amongst the Windrunners is a totebag with the oddly incorporated raccoon tail. Available at Kniq in Hong Kong.

Turner Prize Winner 2008

Mark Leckey

His winning works include the film Cinema in the Round which shows him lecturing about his love of animation.

The key motifs of the work of Leckey, who creates footage based on contemporary culture, are desire and transformation.

According to judges, he uses his "own state of being" - an artist in London who grew up in northern England in the 1980s - to explore those motifs.

"He celebrates the imagination of the individual and our potential to inhabit, reclaim or animate an idea, a space, or an object," they added.

The artist was shortlisted for solo exhibitions Resident, at Kolnischer Kunstverein, Cologne, and Industrial Light & Magic, at Le Consortium, Dijon.

Leckey, the only man on the shortlist, beat Goshka Macuga, Runa Islam and Cathy Wilkes to win the prize, which has had only three female winners since its 1984 inception.
